ELASTOMER TECHNOLOGY

Rubberatkins’ dedicated team of innovative chemists and engineers continually design novel elastomer compounds for a wide range of challenging environments.

They constantly strive to increase the performance and longevity of materials and thus your products. Our in-house mixing facility, combined with the latest testing equipment allows for fast compound development and characterization.

The extensively equipped lab allows the Rubberatkins team to analyze materials as well as carry out fluid and gas compatibility testing.

TAILORED MATERIALS

Rubberatkins continually pushes the application boundaries as we develop unique and novel materials to provide sealing solutions in environments that were previously no-go areas.

To date, Rubberatkins has developed over 1,700 formulations to satisfy even the most challenging physical and environmental applications. In addition to the standard NBR, HNBR, and FKM materials, our experience and material knowledge have resulted in the development of Rubberatkins’ own branded high-performance elastomers.

Rubberatkins are actively moving with the new energy sector in providing solutions to the challenges within Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Power Production.

COMPOUND DESIGN

Rubberatkins, in-house compound development has resulted in materials certified to API 6A / ISO 23936-2 / NACE / NORSOK. Our strength is in developing and selecting a material that is the best for your application. Our elastomer technology improves with every compound we develop. With over 1,700 formulations on our database, Rubberatkins uniquely tailors its materials for performance and longevity.

Rubberatkins also has a range of API 6A / ISO 23936-2 / NACE / NORSOK-approved materials that have been tested and qualified by independent test bodies. These, and other compounds, also have a proven track record and are extensively used within the Oil & Gas industry. Utilizing our in-house FEA capabilities material properties can be used to optimize design to ensure reliable and repeatable product performance.

ELASTOMER TESTING

Rubberatkins can test our own and third-party elastomers to determine chemical composition, exposure to gases and fluids, and failure modes. This can prove invaluable when investigating performance of elastomers or field failure analysis. The results can also help re-define material choice and design improvements for future developments.

Rubberatkins has the testing capabilities for Material Testing to ISO, ASTM & BS standards.

Rubberatkins’ lab is equipped with a suite of analysis machines capable of testing numerous properties of elastomers to various internationally recognized standards.

Physical testing capabilities at Rubberatkins:

  • Tensile testing, tension, and compression

  • Tear testing

  • Compression set

  • Abrasion

  • Bond strength

  • Accelerated ageing

  • Chemical compatibility

  • Lifetime Prediction - Arrhenius Calculations to ISO 11346

  • Compression stress relaxation

INDEPENDENT & THIRD-PARTY ELASTOMER ANALYSIS

Root cause analysis of chemical/thermal degradation of elastomers can be investigated.

Rubberatkins provides a unique independent elastomer analysis, by which material characterization can be carried out utilizing traditional elastomer testing methods.

Thermal analytical techniques are used to provide information relating to the degradation of the materials and provide an explanation of the possible causes where seal performance has been compromised.
