PUPILS PREPARED TO ‘LIFT OFF!’

Rubberatkins appeared alongside The Chester Hotel, Brewdog and Visit Aberdeenshire among many other businesses in presenting on how their organisation has dealt, or plan to deal, with the challenges of Net Zero and Climate Change, but also the opportunities that these challenges provide in the North East of Scotland as Aberdeen positions itself as the Energy Capital of Europe.

Each presenter also discussed their own career growth, and how they portrayed the opportunities available to them from the beginning of their careers describing where it has taken them, followed by a Q&A session where local pupils had the opportunity to ask their questions on the different work-based pathways.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the senior pupils to get an insight into the options ahead of them as they prepare to leave school.

“This can be an overwhelming time as they navigate their next steps, with events like this we aim to prepare them for not only this transition but also the future, where climate change will be the focus for years to come.”

Over 3,000 North East pupils had access to presentations from Dianne Robertson (Trainer), Alex Charlton (Maintenance Engineer), Ryan Melvin (Logistics Coordinator), Rebecca Lay (Recruitment) and Jessica Strong (Marketing Analyst)
